It is with profound sadness we announce Nellie’s peaceful passing at Albright Manor on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at the age of 91. Beloved and devoted wife of the late John (1998). Loving mother of Annie (James) Mundt, the late Anthony, the late Nicholas (Karen), Andrew (Monica) and Paul (Christine). Cherished and proud Baba of Bradley, Amanda (Robert), Mark (Michael), Andrew Jr., Olivia, Maksym, and Stefan. Dear sister of Mary (the late Nick) Griss, Steven (Gwen) Tkatch, the late Bill (Violet) Tkatch, the late Lena (the late Bill) Bateman. Loving Chocha to many families. She will be truly missed by her loving friend for over 60 years, Anne Williams as well as Nellie’s many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nellie was a devoted and lifelong member of the Ukrainian Women’s Organization (OYK), serving for many years on the Executive, and a cornerstone member of the Ukrainian National Federation. She was a longstanding member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Vladimir in Hamilton.
Nellie lived to make others happy. She was always looking after others, even at her own sacrifice. She will be remembered for many years for her incredible talents; especially her pyrohy and cabbage rolls.
In keeping within Covid 19 restrictions, a private Funeral Service will be held at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel St. Catharines (905-684-6346); with burial at St. Volodymyr Cemetery in Oakville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. George or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Please take a moment, if you will, and leave a tribute or a memory for the family. These always provide comfort especially during these strange and distant times.
