Ross Hewitt Sheppard

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Ross, peacefully at home on the 9th of January 2012. Loving husband of 57 years to Janice, beloved father to David (Christina), Kent (Maureen) and the late Carol (Ohlsson). Loving grandfather to Britton and Andrea Sheppard, Taylor and Jannika Ohlsson. Dear brother of Robert (Christine) of St. Catharines, Bruce (Janet) of Pembrooke, brother-in-law to Patricia Taylor (Aurora). Ross will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. While practicing dentistry for 40 years Ross was always generous with his time and energy in helping those less fortunate. Ross served as a founding member of Meals on Wheels, was an active volunteer with the local Out of the Cold program, and dedicated many years of service to the St. Catharines Lions Club through which he helped establish a special support facility for deaf children among a variety of charitable endeavors. Active for many years with St. Paul Street United Church, Ross also served professionally with several dental organizations and associations. Ross always enjoyed cottage life with his children, grandchildren and friends and took pleasure in many activities such as fishing, curling and wood carving.

Memorial visiting will be held at HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905-684-6346) on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. Memorial Service will be held at Silver Spire United Church, 366 St. Paul St. on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. Cremation.
