She also loved going on outings around Niagara with her dear mother, Mary Hamilton, family and friends. Marg Newby was a life long, good friend and neighbour. Ruth and Charlie enjoyed sailing and socializing with Marg and the Newby family at Dalhousie Yacht Club. They also loved to go dancing and skating with all their good friends. Ruth was involved in many Volunteer Service Groups in the community and was a lifetime member at Knox Presbyterian Church since childhood, then later taught Sunday School and was active in Church groups there.Ruth was an avid swimmer and lifeguard in her youth and enjoyed participating in ornamental/synchronized swimming. It was at the Dance Hall on the beach at Port Dalhousie where she and Charlie, her beloved husband first met. Ruth loved the outdoors! She enjoyed birding both at home from their woodlot backyard and also with friends from their involvement in Nature Clubs across Niagara.
Ruth and Charlie positively influenced their family and friends with their love of nature. Many happy days were spent camping, canoeing and birding. Ruth also enjoyed traveling to Scotland, Greece, Florida and California where she had family.
Thank you to the many Health Care Workers, Doctors and Nurses who gave Ruth excellent care and most recently while she was in hospital. Special appreciation to Ruth's wonderful Caregivers;
