Vera, would say to me don't worry dear I will adopt you, she was always telling me it was gonna be OK its what Canada was founded on she was right gonna miss our weekly calls ❤always Ringo 

Such a sweet lady and wonderful mother to her children.  I was friends with her son Danny when the family lived in Silver Creek. New York for a short time.  My most fond memory of her was making delicious pies for us from the berries we picked.  Mrs. Austin helped to give me stability during a very unstable time in my life.   Sadly, I lost contact with the family over the years because of my career in the military which took me all over the world.  She would probably be so impressed that I visited London.  How I wish I could just talk with her one more time.  May her memory comfort all those who loved her.

May she rest in heavenly peace. Heaven gained an amazing angel. I will miss her presence, her soft spoken voice, and her ability to make anyone laugh. She blessed my life in many way and I’m so thankful for all the daily talks we shared. 

I will be thinking of you and your family during this time.

I am so sorry for your loss. May her memories help you through this difficult time. Vera was such a quiet, loving person. She had the most interesting stories to share. Every time I see a Lindor chocolate I will think of her. 

Vera was such a wonderful lady. Kind generous and gentle, warm hearted  and cheerful. She was also brave and strong. I had many pleasant, interesting conversations with her over the years and always found her to be enjoyable company. She did her best and gave her utmost to her family, even when it wasn't appreciated. 
Her life was difficult in her later years.  But she persevered through her troubles, thinking more about others than of herself. I am truly glad that she had some peace and joy in her final years. Sadly those years were all too few. I came to think of Vera almost as family. She will missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. Vera has a special place in my heart and always shall. 
Now in the arms of the Lord, may she find the peace and happiness that this remarkable woman deserves.  

Of the thousands of memories in the thirty five plus years I knew Vera I'd like to share only two and to be sure they are not landmarks or events of huge significance, they are special to me in the way life really works, the little things you never forget. Vera, being a life long vegetarian was really, really good at making vegetable stew. Long ago I asked for the basic ingredients, "Well, root vegetables of course and whatever else is around." Yep, a true survivor of hard times, "Whatever else is around." And, I asked, how to you cook it? "In a pressure cooker to save money and time." A pressure cooker! Those things creating several atmospheres and can blow up!? She bought me one and I've used it for decades. Perfect. The other memory is much more recent, just a few weeks ago. Jen and I were on the phone with her (Jen was ALWAYS on the phone with her) and for whatever reason, in whatever context, she and I began singing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game," the seven inning stretch song. Vera remembered all the words but to my knowledge, had never attended a professional baseball game in her long and eventful life. Perfect. I miss her. 

I'd like to extend my sincere condolences to the Austin family on the loss of your sweet mother.  I was very fortunate to have not only known this lovely woman for most of my life, but also to have lived in her lovely home, shared meals with her and her family, and had many discussions regarding all things that were dear to her...her children and family, her love of animals and gardens, antiques and memories from her homeland England.  Mrs. Austin was so kind to me that I have always felt as though she was family and she will live in my heart forever.   

I always found Vera to be a kind, gentle, compassionate and intelligent soul. She was a gracious host whenever I would visit her and her son Danny, and I often had in depth conversations with her.  Her wisdom and knowledge of many diverse subjects often surprised and impressed me. We also both shared a love for animals. I knew her in my youth before she moved to the US, and when she returned to Canada, I was grateful for the privilege of assisting her and her son Danny, to find a suitable place to live and continue on with their lives. I have fond memories of those times. She will not be forgotten.
