

Loving wife, devoted mother, Christian, patriot. Eleanor passed peacefully in the presence of her family at the Mother of Perpetual Help Residence. Eleanor, daughter of William and Loretta Keffler, was born November 25, 1919 in Malvern, Ohio.
Upon her graduation from nursing training she enlisted in the US Navy Nurses Corp in support of the World War II effort. Stationed at the US Navel Base in Newport, RI, she witnessed the young, healthy and patriotic prepare for war. Eleanor then spent five years witnessing and nursing the wounded in the South Pacific theater. She was a flight nurse, ferrying the wounded from Guam and Hawaii to the US Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. Eleanor retired after 6 years of service with the rank of Lieutenant Commander Enger having met her husband Lt. Frank A Enger during the war.
Eleanor settled with her new husband, Frank in St. Louis, Mo. Eleanor and Frank were blessed with twelve children. Eleanor's chosen life was her family. She raised and taught her children through faith, love and example. She was unfailing in doing the common deed uncommonly well.
Eleanor was active at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Medical Center and Carondelet Family Care Center as an RN.
Eleanor Jane Keffler Enger -- an extraordinarily talented, respected and loved woman, a member of the Greatest Generation. May she rest in peace. We thank God for her presence here on earth.

Enger, Loving mother of Michael, Stephen (Meda), Richard (Julie), Anne (Harry) Stirnemann, Barbara (Gerry) Cocchiarro, Christopher (Minyuen), Thomas (Colleen), and John (Linda), and the late Mary Bell, William, Frankie and Loretta. Dear sister of Joseph, Helen, Betty, David, the late Dorothy, grandmother of Olivia, Elodie, Mathieu, Alexander, NAtalie, Carl, Paul, William, Benjamin, Gina, Rosie, Carolyn, Paula, Laura, Mark, Maxwell, Frances, Samuel, Gus, Marie, Joseph, Annalise, Andrew and great Grandmother to Jacob and Eleanor.
Contributions in Eleanor’s name may be made to St. Cecilia’s Catholic School, 5418 Louisiana (63111).
Visitation at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, 5418 Louisiana Wednesday, August 29 from 9:30 A.M. until the celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. The interment will follow with full Military Honors in Resurrection Cemetery. Place memories and condolences at www.hoffmeistercolonial.com.
