Dear LouAnn and family,

As you know, Hal was a wonderful man.  I enjoyed him at the Naval Academy; we were company mates who drifted apart over the years.  He always occupied a soft spot in my heart.

He is at peace now and out of pain; however, his loss leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all those who knew him.  You are in our prayers at this tough time.

I knew Hal quite well at the academy. I was in the 4th company. Hal was a very special man.  He was the kind of man one never forgets with a positive attitude and an almost spiritual presence. Although I have not seen Hal since June 1960 on graduation day I will never forget him. May the Lord bless and keep you all and help you through these most difficult of times.

I met Hal during plebe summer - he decided to wrap the laces around his leggings instead of putting them through all the little holes and clips.  The new ensign who was our company office was so perplexed he was speechless.  Hal did that a lot - we loved his humor and ability to cheer everyone.  I will remember him.

Hal was a dear and valued First Company Classmate.  We shared many good times together and will remember him fondly.  Our best to you and the family for the future.

Hal and I were classmates in the First Compant at the Naval Academy.  My memories of him continue to influence what I do and how I do tham.  He wasn't one to conform to accepted thinking, he constantly thought "outside the box" in a way that made us all think more profoundly.  He will be greatly missed.

So very sorry to hear about your loss.  Hal was a wonderful USNA and 1st Company classmate and he will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Hal was most definitely one of the finest men I have ever known. His love of music and talent was fantastic, his generosity of spirit, incredible, his love for life and laugh, legendary. "Dadder" was also like a second Dad to me, and an outstanding Grandfather to our boys. 

Hal, you will be terribly missed, but your spirit lives on within us all. There are so many things I'll never forget, most of all the wonderful summer you spent helping me with Chase when he was a tiny baby. And--, the "frightening blanket" from you and LouAnn, which is still in use today.

Hal, thank you for your service in the USN and USAF-you have been an honorable and loving example to all of us, ever serving our Great Country. You are now resting on Eagle's Wings, with our Beloved Creator.
