Long time co-worker from McDonnell Douglas (Boeing). Besides being a wonderful person to work with, we enjoyed several camp outs and backpacking trips.  Terribly saddened to learn of Pete's passing. Condolences go out to Carole and the entire family.  

Uncle Pete’s generosity shined many times over the years since those early days in my middle school years, but in particular was just a few years back, when he had devoted days of hard labor as my family was preparing our home to be sold.  His construction expertise and willing hands were greatly appreciated, since we had precious little time to complete the work and get the home on the market.

Although Uncle Pete had a wonderful talent with his knowledge of math and construction, that was not all that made him stand out.  He was a good brother to my father.  He was with him when my mother, my father’s wife, had become gravely ill and was there with my father and the family till my mother’s last breath. He also made great strides to be with my father, as he struggled for the last months of his life.  I think my father could not have asked for a more caring and faithful brother.  

I will miss Uncle Pete, but was glad to have had the good fortune of having him in my life.  I was blessed with having wonderful parents myself and fortunate to have had a caring extended family, of which Uncle Pete stood out.  His loss has been felt and will be forever.  I could not have asked for a better Uncle.  Rest in Peace Uncle Pete.

PART II
Though out of sight, I was evidently not out of his mind.  Since my cousins attended the same grammar school as I had, Edgar Road Elementary, I would sometimes get a ride home from my Aunt Carole, who religiously picked my cousin Susie up at the end of the day. I remember getting a ride home one day and while in the car, Aunt Carole said she had something for me that Uncle Pete had brought home from His work at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation. It was a clay model of an aircraft.  I was not sure what type, but it was really cool and an unexpected surprise.  

As I grew older, I struggled some with Algebra and needed extra help.  Since Uncle Pete was an engineer, his math skills were second to none.  My parents and I asked if he would be willing to provide me with some extra help, which he did of course. He would spend at least an hour of his evenings, once or twice a week with me, going over math problems.  He not only helped me pass my class, but also modeled for me the value of helping others. Now I find myself much older and with children of my own and know that there is little time in the evening to spend with family, so I can fully appreciate sacrifice. 



Evidence of someone’s contribution to this world can be gleamed from the impact they have on another’s life.  My Uncle Pete epitomizes this statement. From my earliest memories, he had been gracious with his time.  My earliest memory of him was his willingness to help my father and I craft my cub Scout Pinewood Derby cars with his jigsaw.  I remember my parents dropping me off at my Uncle’s house, block of wood with cutting marks in hand, ready to be cut.  Uncle Pete would take me to the basement with him and I would watch him expertly take that block of wood and fashion a sleek model of a car’s body.  One in particular was a curved body of a Porsche 926.  His skill and care made for a car that received many comments at the Derby.  

Since my father worked hard to provide for my family, he was unable to make one of my scouting opportunities.  The troop had planned on a float trip down the Black River, located in southern Missouri.  Although disappointed that my father could not join me, my father had asked his brother, my Uncle Pete, if he could take me and of course he agreed to take me.  It was a wonderful time. I remember eating hamburgers with him at the A&W restaurant on the way down there and canoeing through the water with him in the back and I in the front. I remember using my socks to hold and catch tadpoles with him as well. It was a time to remember, thought the Sunburn was a part I want to forget.

There are so many fond memories of Uncle Pete. He was always so willing to lend a hand. So many family get togethers, good food, good gaming and great company. Uncle Pete, you will be missed greatly.
