She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Parmenio Romero Buitrago and Julia Huertas Torres, and her beloved grandparents, Rafael and Dioselina Buitrago, and Claudio Huertas and Balsamina Torres.
Isabel is survived by her adored daughter, Lillian Miro, who was the center of her heart and greatest joy. She is the beloved sister of Eduardo, Sister Ana Tulia, Evangelista, Ernesto, Juan B., Eduviges, Maria de Jesus, Paulina, Alba, Marco (sister-in-law Linda), Rosa Elena, and Julia Rosa. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family, colleagues, and dear friends.
Isabel lived a life defined by strength, compassion, and service. In Colombia, she proudly served as one of the first female police officers in her country—an achievement that reflected her courage and determination. She later dedicated 33 years of her life to nursing, where her caring spirit, resilience, and unmistakable sass left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She had a natural gift for caring for others, and her career choices beautifully reflected her generous and giving heart.
She was a devoted mother, sister and aunt, a skilled seamstress, and a remarkably capable and independent woman. Isabel could fix just about anything around the house and took pride in her self-reliance. She loved animals, especially birds and dogs, enjoyed helping others, and was always ready to offer guidance, support, or a helping hand to anyone in need.
Above all, Isabel’s faith in God guided her life. While her love for God was first, her deepest love on this earth belonged to her daughter, Lillian.
Her legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
