Mr Walsh was always kind and warm hearted. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

So sorry for your loss.  I knew Marty years ago through his involvement with the model codes. He was always the voice of reason and integrity.  he will be missed.

  We just got back into town and heard about Marty's passing.  Sorry we couldn't be there at the funeral.   He was a great guiding hand and strong voice at MABOI and the most knowledgeable person I have ever met on building codes.  Sorry to hear this Colette.

Marty Walsh knew the true meaning of serving the citizens of St. Louis.  He was always, kind, professional, and funny when he was the Building Commissioner for the City of St. Louis.  What a wonderful man! He is greatly appreciated by so many who had the honor of knowing and working with him to preserve our housing and our neighborhoods!

I loved working with Marty.  He had such a full life.  He taught at Washington University where he graduated with a 4.0, did research on steel design for Granite City Steel, was past President of BOCA and was "the national authority on building codes" and earthquake design. Marty designed the Bridgeton City Hall and was a volunteer fireman at the Carrollton fire station.  Marty designed the rapid combat system of portable pontoon bridge deployment when he was in the Army at Fort Belvoir which is still used today. He was building commissioner and acting city manager of Cincinnati.  He came back to St Louis as building commissioner and was later director of public safety and did much to improve working conditions and safety for firefighters.  Marty was even a Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla Captain.  He finished his working career with St Louis county upgrading building codes and safety.  Marty was a great family man and loved his Lionel trains.  A more honest person I have never known.  Rest in peace Marty.

Marty was a wonderful story teller, fine engineer and a better person.  I enjoyed working with him and will miss him.
