I am extremely saddened by Matt's passing.  I found out just yesterday.  We worked together for many years and he was always kind, gentle and very informative.  He knew and shared so much with others.  God bless you all and may the Lord continue to watch over you and your family.  Freda

My heart is beyond heavy tonight, we all lost a dear friend Matt Hoffmeister (Yogi). Yogi had a heart as big as all outdoors, his smile was contagious, he had such a passion for all his friends. His love for his family, music and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed. Thank you Yogi for taking me under your wing on the days I struggled, I will never forget all you ever did for me. I will miss our rides to and from work, and the fun times we'd share listening to music and just talking.
Fly high my friend, we will talk again one day. I love you!

Uncle Matt,
  Growing up I had just assumed that every family was like ours. I thought it was normal that I saw my aunts, uncles, and cousins every couple of weeks and that every family went on vacations together and stayed in the same house!  Boy was I very wrong. It wasn't until college that I realized that our family was very different. Most people don't look forward to family gatherings or even go on vacations. Half of my friends barely know their aunts and uncles. I feel very lucky that not only is our family so close and that I look forward to every gathering but that we have the amazing memories of vacations, birthday parties, and the holidays.
   You were truly a one of a kind person that made such a huge impact not only on my life but also my friends. All of my friends remember and still talk about my funny sweet uncle that wrote the "Abbeyisms" on my 21st birthday at Helenfitzgeralds and my happy and fun uncle Matt on Doug's float trip bachelor party. I will also never forget this past vacation when you were so happy to hear "last call" at  two different bars in one night. Tony, you, and I sure did have a lot of fun taking Jell-O shots and dancing the night away.  As sad as I am, I am so happy and grateful to have these memories and the pictures. You are an amazing uncle that always made me feel so loved and important. I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that you are gone. It is so hard for me to understand why. I know you would have been an amazing great uncle to Gracie and would have been one of the first people to come up to the hospital to see her when she is born. It absolutely breaks my heart to know she won't know you but I have a feeling you two are hanging out right now until she makes her big debut in April. April 18th actually... She will be born on my Mom's birthday :-) I know you would have gotten a kick out of that! As hard as all of this is, I just keep telling myself that Gracie is going to have one amazing guardian angel. I love you so much and miss you. I miss hearing you say "heyyyyyy Abigailll" and repeating your favorite songs while sitting on the beach but I know some day I will hear both of those again. Until then, I know you are hanging out Grandma and catching up on lost time.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Matt at Interface. He was a fun loving person and always had a smile on his face. Your family will be in our thoughts.

Donna and I are saddened to hear of Matt's passing and our prayers are with Sharon and the children. Matt was a great guy who will be missed dearly. I will always remember Matt's joyful and funloving nature.

My sympathies to Matt's family.  I was a classmate of Matt's back in high school.  Although we lost touch, as people do after some 30+ years, the wonderful pictures of his beautiful family are just what I would have expected of a truly nice guy like Matt.

Matt was my co worker at Interface and was truly a gift.  He had a wonderful way of connecting to people and always went the extra mile to help when needed.  Your family has been and will continue to be in my prayers.

Matt was always a jolly person. He smiled all the time and always welcomed a good day whether it was or not. He was always appreciative even of the simplest things. He was a great coworker. Even though his time on earth was short he Lived it and Loved it. God Bless to all  his Family.

My memories of Matt center around our time together as roommates as SEMO.  He was one of the kindest and most genuine people I've ever known.  He loved to laugh and always had a smile on his face.  You couldn't be mad around Matt...he just wouldn't accept it!

Matt was truly one of those people who would do anything for anybody. That's one of the many things that made him a wonderful person. I wasn't as close to Matt and Sharon as I am to his sister Chris and her husband Jerry, but I still knew I could call Matt for anything at any time. I'm extremely proud to have been able to call Matt my friend. If there's anything I can do for the Hoffmeister family in this difficult time, or at any time, please let me know.
