Born in St. Louis on 26 October 1946, Rose was the daughter of Ruth F. (Trader) and John G. Maguire, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Commander (Navy, ret.) Peter N. Bouras (Mary) and incredible grand-daughters Sophia and Athena; sisters Mary Hengen (Phil) and Patricia Dillon; brothers Charles Maguire (Lori) and James Maguire (Mary), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother John Maguire (Debbie), and step-father Larry Diamond.
She was a long-time professional in the ophthalmic industry in St. Louis, and a military spouse in an era when such things were far less popular than they are today. Music runs deep in her family and was a source of great enjoyment and focus throughout her life. Having embraced folk music in the 1960s, she rekindled her musical interests in the 1990s and 2000s, as the keyboardist in local bands Twilight Jump and the Hot Flashes – playing classic Blues, Soul-R&B, and Rock n’ Roll.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00, followed by a Memorial Service, on Saturday, 30 May 2026, at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary (6464 Chippewa St., St. Louis, MO).
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Missouri, 1201 Macklind Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110; Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society; or Charity of Donor’s Choice.
