The youngest of three siblings, she grew up on a farm and attended Hope Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Walther League. Before her marriage to Norman, she was a bookkeeper in St. Louis.
Shirley was a lifelong learner and avid reader. She loved PBS, cooking, documentaries, and Keeping Up Appearances. She was an active member of her garden and ceramics clubs and was always on an adventure with Exploring St. Louis or volunteering with The Zoo.
She loved music and enjoyed traveling nationally and internationally. She and Norman toured Europe with The Compton Heights Concert Band donor group and were longtime season ticket holders at The Muny.
Her love of culture and constant energy and initiative will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
