Grandpa Ben,  I remember the day I married your step-grandson John and you danced with me and kissed my cheek. I will cherish all the stories you shared, the laughs, and how many times you told me to quit my job as it was John’s job to support me. I will look for you every Friday night in N St Paul during History Cruizers, and think of you at my side as we walk and talk enjoying the cars. I love you and will miss you, Grandpa Ben. Thanks for all the amazing memories.

     My Dad was a wonderful man who cared well for his family.  He worked long hard hours to make sure his children did not go hungry or cold as he experienced as a child of the depression. 
     He was a quiet missionary of our Lord's work.  He and  our mother, Mary, worked so we could attend Transfiguration Elementary School. He was proud of bringing my Mom to the Catholic religion.  She was born  Greek Orthodox.   He cared for our mother especially when she was diagnosed with cancer. After she died he married Dorothy.  She also converted to the Catholic church.   Dad touched many lives.
       Dad's Friday story.  Dad said that on Friday if meat was the only thing we had to eat, not to waste it, bless it and call it fish.  The reason I thought of this story is because Friday after Dad's death my nephew brought me a Subway steak sandwich because he and my son were worried about me..  It reminded me of Dad, I blessed the sandwich and called it fish because Dad said to appreciate the kindness of others and not to let food go to waste.
       Dad was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church since the early 1950's.  He was an usher and helped out at the Fall Festival.
       Dad did something special with each of us.  He gave me my first horse.  Although he was not able to buy his own farm and raise calves he got a kick out of hearing about my cows, calves and horses.
       Dad was involved with car racing with my brother.  They were part of the pit crew for a friend's racing team.  They raced at Cedar Lake, Stillwater Speedway and the Minnesota State Fair.
       Dad did many things with my sister and her husband.  Their care and support enriched his life.
       He was proud of our country," the best country in the whole world".  He was a disabled veteran.  He worked at 3M for 42 years.  He was a member of the 3M clown club and one of the firefighters and first responders on the  East County Line Fire Department.
