On May 30, 2023, we lost a remarkable woman of faith, Bertha Lee Davis, also known as Penni. She was born on June 30, 1953, in Chicago, IL, to Catherine and James White. Penni is preceded in death by her son; Shabaka Keita Davis, parents; Catherine and James White, siblings; Gloria White, Rose Rollins, and Anthony White and other loved ones who have greeted her home.
Penni was a strong and tenacious woman who lived her life with a deep passion for wanting to see others live their life for Christ. Despite the challenges she faced, Penni remained steadfast in her faith and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a shining example of persistence and determination with a constant pursuit for higher learning. Most of her career was in retail and sales. Penni spent a great deal of her time watching African movies and researching on her computer several different topics. She loved her gospel music and was a big fan of Elvis Presley.
Penni's unwavering faith was the foundation of her life, and she found great comfort in going to church for many years until it was a challenge for her due to her health. She believed in the power of prayer and was always willing to lend an ear or offer a kind word to those in need.
Penni’s legacy lives on through her two sons; Mario Antonio Davis, Bomoko DeShun Davis, her grandchildren; Jennifer, Donovan, Shabaka Jr., and Noelain and several great grands. Penni is survived by her siblings; Junior, Randy, Andrew, Iona, Delores, Donnell, Deborah (Frank), Calvin (Tywana), Robert, and Jacqueline and a host of lovely nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace in the loving arms of God. We will always remember Penni for her strength, her gratitude, her fight and her courage to live life her way.
