Of St. Paul

Surrounded by her family, Carol died July 24 from complications due to duodenal cancer. Survived by husband, Mike; children Patrick (Lindsay), Megan (Patrick Brady), and Tim; grandchildren, Liam, Nolan, and Madelyn; mother, Lucille; sister, Anne (Paul Maxa), brother, Tom (Karen), and sister-in-law, Mary Jane O’Keefe; nieces and nephew, other relatives and many friends. Carol joins her father, Malachi, in-laws, James and Angela O’Keefe, and other relatives and friends who have preceded her in death. Raised in Jordan, MN, Carol earned a BA from the College of St. Benedict (where she met SJU alum, Mike) and an MA from St. Mary’s University. She worked most recently for the St. Paul Public Libraries, after previous careers working with pregnant and parenting teen mothers and as a school teacher and librarian. Fiercely Irish, red-headed, left-handed, and maternal, Carol never stopped reading, laughing, and praying. Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at St. Pascal Baylon Catholic Church (1757 Conway Street, St. Paul), with visitation at St. Pascal’s on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Private internment at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials preferred to DeLaSalle High School, Friends of the St. Paul Public Library, or St. Pascal Baylon.
