

Doris Darlene (Blumenberg) Fox , age 103, was born on November 3, 1919 and passed away on October 27, 2023 at Friendship Village, Bloomington MN. As the second daughter of Martin and Maude (Fessler) Blumenberg, she was born in Mitchell, SD. She was preceded in death by sister, Ruth Blumenberg Turek, and 2 brothers, Wesley and Donald Blumenberg.
She grew to graduate from Fulton, SD High School in 1937. She was fortunate to take piano lessons and accompanied the glee club and soloist in the high school and church. She was active jn the small Methodist Church in Fulton.
She attended South Dakota State College in Brookings, SD from 1937 and graduated in 1941 with a BS degree in Home Economics and a minor in Music. While in college, she was a pipe organist at the Brookings United Methodist Church. Upon college graduation she taught Home Economics for two years in a new department in the high school in Trent, SD.
Darlene and Henry Raymond Fox of Alexandria, SD were married in Brookings Methodist Church on March 2, 1943. Ray had just received his commission as an Ensign in the US Naval Air Corps in Corpus Christi, TX.
Ray was stationed as a Navy instructor at Wold Chamberlain Airport in St. Paul, MN and was later stationed in Ft. Worth, TX, Olathe, KS and Alameda, CA. He served as a transport pilot in Honolulu, HI.
After service and 3 years as a County Agricultural Agent in St. James, MN, Ray and Darlene moved to Golden Valley with Ford Motor Company Tractor Division. That employment took them to Sioux Falls, SD, Troy, MI, Minnetonka and Bloomington, MN. They retired to Winter Haven, FL in June 1981.
Ray passed away in Florida on December 22, 1997. In June, 2000, Darlene moved to Friendship Village.
Darlene is survived by Robert Craig Fox of Davis, CA and James Charles Fox of Little Canada, MN, 5 grandchildren, Kristin Allyn (Fox) Howard of Kirkland, WA, Jonathan Paul Fox of Little Canada, MN, Carrie Allyse (Fox) Mattson of Stillwater MN, Andrew Stanton Fox of Davis, CA, Brianna Leah Fox of Milwaukee, WI and 8 great grandchildren.
Memorial service and burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in the Spring of 2024.
