

She was born on June 17, 1917 on the family farm on East Rush Lake, the youngest daughter of Gustav & Elsie (Danger) Heckeroth. Myrtle grew up on the farm, picked rocks from the fields, plowed fields with a team of horses and milked cows. She was known for her wonderful cakes that she baked in the family wood stove. She loved the lake, fishing and playing in the rushes.
When she was older she decided she wanted new adventures and moved to St. Paul. She went to beauty school and became a beautician and later met her husband, John. They married and had a daughter,Carole, and a son, James.
As the children got older she decided to go to work at the Grain Terminal Exchange. While there, she decided to further her education at Rasmussen Business College. She became a Commodities Broker and was a Member of the Chicago Board of Trade, a job she thoroughly enjoyed.
When John and Myrtle retired, they moved from Falcon Heights, Minnesota to Sun City, Arizona. While there, they enjoyed traveling the world, playing golf, bridge & the warm weather. They were Members of Desert Palms Presbyterian church.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her Parents, Gustav & Elsie (Danger) Heckeroth; Brother, Roland; Sister, Florence Wicklacz; Husband, John; and Grandson, Jordon Roth. She is survived by her Son, James (Rita) of Ashland,Oregon & Daughter, Carole (David) Cartwright of Rush Lake, Minnesota. Myrtle had Grandchildren: Scott, Alison, Natascha & Preston and many Great-Grandchildren.
In her later years Myrtle returned to Minnesota and lived with her daughter and husband on the family century farm. The last two years she lived at Ecumen in North Branch where she made many new friends.
The family will gather this summer to share many wonderful memories of Myrtle. We will all miss her.
