Born on May 23, 1946, Tim was educated in Catholic schools throughout his life, beginning at St. Casimir Catholic School on St. Paul’s East Side. He graduated from Hill High School in 1964 (now Hill-Murray). An only child, Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Josephine Lange.
Tim’s strong work ethic began early. His first “real” job after high school was with ADT as he enjoyed working with systems and people. In 1984, he proudly joined Lang Nelson Associates, where he spent 32 years before retiring in 2016. He played a key role in helping start Breaktime Beverage Vending and later managed and cared for the Lang Nelson Transportation fleet, ensuring every bus was immaculate and every resident was treated with dignity and care.
Tim also had a wonderfully quirky and unforgettable personality. Everything was an emergency—and he treated it as such. He was often seen sprinting through the office with purpose and urgency, determined to solve the problem at hand, no matter how big or small. His energy was matched only by his heart; beneath the urgency was a deeply loving man who simply wanted to help, fix, and care. Tim showed up—every time—and made people feel safe knowing he was on it.
Deeply Catholic and profoundly faith-filled, Tim lived his beliefs through constant prayer and kindness. He often ended conversations with a blessing, quietly lifting others in prayer.
Tim was a passionate lover of vintage automobiles and proud to be member #369 of the Minnesota Street Rod Association. He also loved motor sports and drag racing. He looked forward to coordinating the Lang Nelson friends and family event every August at BIR (Brainerd International Raceway.) Tim’s pride and joy was his blue-gray 1977 Camaro. Even in retirement, his love of cars continued—most notably with his famously fast golf cart in Florida.
Tim also loved fine dining, hosting close friends, and his annual Christmas dinners at Minnesota Valley Country Club.
After retiring, Tim and his wife Diana moved to Florida, where he spent his days caring for their home, planting the palm trees she loved, reading hot rod magazines and enjoying the sunshine.
Tim is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of over 50 years, Diana, and his three cherished dogs—Joseph Alan, Tabitha Ann, and Benjamin Alan. Tim and Diana would have celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary on Valentines Day.
Tim will be remembered for his gentle heart, generous spirit, unwavering faith, and willingness to help anyone at any hour.
Funeral arrangements will be posted soon.
A Poem Tim Loved
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly trod
The valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth—
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
