I apologize to the family that I have just now stumbled upon this notice.
I will always remember how kind Butch was to me and all of our friends who entered the Long house. He made sure we were well fed and what an example he set for us all. Butchies old pal, Troy

I'm Jenny's good friend from Jr. High School and have fond memories of going over to her house remembering how wonderful and loving of a family she has. I'm so sorry for your loss, your Father was a good man and is now in the hands of the lord.

Remember as kids,on saturdays or sundays,Dad would come in to our room's and wake us up so early so we could all go out to Breakfast together?But before we could go,Dad's word's were."Every one's room has to be clean before we go any where".And we made sure our room's were cleaned,because that was something we enjoyed doing.WE LOVE AND MISS YOU DAD!

I have many good memories of Butch.  We knew each other since 1964 and have been friends ever since.

Bobbie, Butchie, Shannon and Jenny:
I remember when my parents were away from the house and there was a storm that uprooted a very small tree (it was huge to Karin and myself).  Butch drove the 1/4 mile to our house, picked us up and made us feel safe until our parents got home.  When I told Christopher of Butch's passing he immediately remembered the care and love your family gave him when he was little, he especially remembered being allowed to play in the "tupperware" cabinet!

Bobbie and Family, We shared alot of good times and hard work together as neighbors.  Our children grew up together, we enjoyed a many football game together. We have not seen Butch in years, but when there is a football game on, I always think of him and the good times had.  Our hearts ar with you all in your time of loss, remember he's watching us now.

Hello Long Family --
I, too, am an Eastsider and attended Sibley Grade School with VN.  He moved away and I often wondered about him.  From what was shared in his obituary, it appears that he had a good life filled with the love of many family members.  This gives me a warm feeling for VN and his life.  May the love you shared along with the good times sustain you through this sad time.  With sincere sympathy from a kindergarten classmate.

How ironic....we couldn't keep my Dad and Uncle Butch apart on earth and off they go together to stir things up in heaven.  Somehow it validates how insightful the good Lord is.  Lil' Butchie and I, as children of silly and loving Dads experienced one of the greatest days witnessing their "brotherly love" in the hospital.  I will never forget the outpouring of love, laughter and human kindness that our Dads exhibited that day.  Look for the grace and beauty in Uncle Butch's passing.  It is there beneath the layers of pain and suffering.  You will find it abundantly in the love that all of you shared.  My heart holds yours during this time and the Lord holds Uncle Butch's soul.  Surely he will be missed by many- but what a gift he has left us with through his living years.  Peace to all of you as you lay him to rest, free of pain.  Love, Pammy & Family
