I am so sorry to hear of Albert’s passing.. I was lucky enough to know him as a teammate in basketball and a friend at Gustavus Adolphus College.  He had the biggest smile and was such a positive person. As Facebook friends I learned how proud he was of his family. He will surely be missed. RIP Albert.

I enjoyed the years spent with Albert from his high school junior year when he came to live with me and my wife Saundra so he could finish North High School and play on my basketball team. Albert grew into a wonderful man, husband, father and friend. He kept in touch through the years with visits to the Twin Cities and frequent calls. I worked with Al for many years at MacDill. The thing I remember most is no matter the circumstances at work, Al always had a smile on his face. and willing to encourage others. I’m so sorry for your loss and continued prayers for your family.

Before I met you, I first met your voice in the rafters of King High School, yelling “Mook Dawg”…. every game. Later, I came to know you as “Dad,” as I’ve affectionately called you all these years. During our formative years, you embodied all the qualities of a true leader, setting the bar for our future husbands. 

As a husband, we got to see you love, respect, and travel the world with Mom. As a dad, we only saw your unwavering love and support. As granddad, you were thinking of your Eazy-E well before anyone knew he was on the way. 

And for the rest of us, we’re the beneficiaries of your generosity and warmth. Thank you for all that you’ve taught us about love, life, family, and being a person of character. You’re truly missed.

Joyce and Bre. I am deeply saddened by my Homeboy's (as I called him) passing. It has been such a pleasure knowing Al and making so many wonderful memories with your family all these years. He has always been there (you both have) for me. We've done so many things together and have been in each other's lives, watching our children grow and flourish into adulthood. 

We don't know why God called him home, but Al left us with so many beautiful memories that we can cherish and look back on, with both joy and tears. Hold on to that and remember he's looking down on you two, Nick, and Easton, knowing that you have a large circle of family, framily, and friends who are here for you as long as you need us. Egypt 2019-2020.... my Big Brother, he taught me how to really enjoy the good times, how to navigate through the bad.... and ultimately, how to face the unbearable with grace, strength, and dignity!

To The Sawyer Family.  Al was like my brother and a great friend. We met in Las Vegas at Nellis AFB back in the 1990's. He treated everyone like Family that knew and loved him. He would do anything for you and he love his family. I know two of the things Al wanted to see and experice the most was seeing his daughter Bre get married and have a baby. God gave him the desires of his heart before he called him home to glory. We will miss you and always love you my brother. Rest well my brother Al in eternal peace. 🙏🏽 ❤️

I met Bre at the Kids Club at Bally’s Total Fitness while the Sawyer’s were stationed in California. Brotha Al (as my dad would call him), Mrs. Joyce and Bre became apart of our family.

Al was a good brother, great husband, father and friend. He married his daughter and saw his first grandchild. I knew Al while stationed at both Kadena Air Base Japan and Ramstien Air Base Germany.  I’ll always remember that he was always smiling and would do anything for you.  I remember while stationed in Germany we had a bad snow storm that made the roads almost impassable. Al took upon himself to pick up my son Isaiah, Paul’s son Cardae and Bre from preschool and bring them home.  Just another sign of his unselfishness. He was a hell of a basketball player. A jump shot and 3 point assassin. You will be sorely missed my Brother. RIP

I attended high school with Al. I am very sorry for your loss.  He will be remembered and missed.

Al, you were truly that ‘brother from another mother.’  From the moment you came into  SVX at Ramstein, you and I grew tight.  You bring from Philly and me from Bmore, we just had that city connection.  You were a demon on the basketball court, especially from three point range and you led our squadron to two championships.  When my mom died in 1998, you tracked me down in Baltimore to wish your condolences, even though you, Joyce and Bre were PCS’ng back to the states.  I never forgot that.  I also didn’t think our phone conversation two weeks ago would be our last. I told you then, I’ll tell you now, Lorine and I love you and we will miss you terribly.  We will keep Joyce, Bre, Nick and ‘Eazy-E’ in our hearts and prayers.  Rest Easy, Big Brother 🙏🏿

This a great picture because we all were stationed in Germany for years, and hadn’t seen each other together like this for a long time. So, in  2019 at the Seabreeze Jazz Festival, we all happened to just run into each other.
