Barbara Elaine Fischer, a devoted Lutheran educator and cherished family matriarch, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, at the age of 85. For 28 years, she led the Early Childhood Program at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Plantation, nurturing and inspiring generations of children with her warmth, faith, and unwavering dedication.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howard; her daughters, Jill Dominguez (Gilly) and Amy D. Fischer (Aitor Ascasso ) her sister Cynthia Schafer (Jack) and her three beloved grandsons, Cole and Trent Dominguez and Noa Nalu Shelfow. She is preceded in death by George and Ida Ewen. Her kindness, wisdom, and devotion to family and community left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
A visitation for Barbara will be held on January 19, 5:30–7:30 PM at Blount Curry Funeral Home, 605 South MacDill Ave, Tampa, Florida 33609. Services will also be held on January 22, from 10:30–11:30 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 8001 NW 5th Street, Plantation, Florida 33324, with an entombment to follow.
