Benedicta (Aponte) Garcia, 85, of Tampa, passed away March 11, 2022. She was born in Agua Buenas, Puerto Rico on September 14, 1936. Benedicta married Rafael Garcia on May 25, 1957. She worked at Medline Industries in Clearwater, FL for over 30 years before retirement. She was a devoted member of Iglesia Bautista Sobre La Roca, and had a passion for her Lord, family, cooking, and helping her community.
Benedicta is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Rafael Garcia; grandchildren John and Eliezer Garcia; son-in-law Robert J Kenealy; grand-son-in-law Javier Ortiz; and her brother Benjamin Aponte.
She is survived by daughters Annette (Louis) Mendez of Lake Station, IN and Myrna Garcia-Kenealy of Rennselaer, IN; son Rafael (Cheryl) Garcia of Tampa, FL; grandchildren Wesley (Angela) Mendez of Tinley Park, IL, Stephanie Mendez of Valpariso, IN, and Jeanette Mendez Ortiz of Portage, IN; great-grandchildren Tyler Mendez and Audriana Abdul; her 9 sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
