Bernard D Gant

Bernard D. Gant, 94, went to be with the Lord March 29, 2019. Born in London England to the late Thomas Joseph Gant and the late Alice Gant (nee Flatt), Bernard served during WWII with the Royal Air Force. After moving to the U.S. in 1968, he settled in Davenport, Iowa, followed by residence in New York and California. Bernard moved to Florida in 1986.

Bernard was a Manufacturing Engineer working for Bendix Corporation of Davenport, Iowa, Simmons Corporation of Norwich, New York, 4d of Longwood, Florida and Baldwin Corporation of San Bernardino, CA. He worked as a realtor in the Tampa Bay area for many years.

Roman Catholic by faith, Bernard was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where he sang with the choir for 23 years. He was a member of two Barbershop Choruses through the years; the “Chordbusters” of Davenport, Iowa and the Tampa Bay “Heralds of Harmony”. He also sang with The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay.

Preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Olive and his cherished grandson Tommy, Bernard is survived by his loving son Russell and daughter in-law Mary, his dear sister Dorothy and his cherished grandchildren Michelle and Michael.
