“The Best” September 24, 1946 – March 14, 2021
Carol Jean Wiebeck, 74, of Tampa went to Heaven late in the afternoon on Sunday, March 14, 2021. Carol was blessed to leave this world in the comfort of her own home, holding hands with her devoted husband of 52 years Kenneth, her only son Kristopher and her daughter in law Melissa. Carol was born September 24, 1946 in Bay City, Michigan to Richmond and Veronica Brown. Carol was later joined by younger brothers Rick and Robert; and she grew up as their fun loving and high achieving sister. She met her husband Kenneth at the University of Michigan, where they both graduated, in the Spring of 1968 and were married that same Fall. Carol and Ken enjoyed life to its fullest and traveled frequently until having Kristopher in the Spring of 1983, 15 years to the day from their first date. Carol, Ken and Kristopher moved to Tampa in 1985. She worked as a dental hygienist on and off for the next 33 years while making sure her family always came first. Carol was a selfless and loving mother who enjoyed long car rides back and forth to school and sporting activities. She was also an animal lover, owning numerous dogs and rescue cats over the years. Her final rescue cat was aptly named Lucky. In November 2008, Carol welcomed her daughter Melissa to the family via marriage to Kristopher. She relished finally having a daughter and spent as much time with Melissa and Kristopher as she could. Her first grandchild, Caroline, was born in June 2014 and from that point forward she was known lovingly as Amma. Her second and final grandchild, Alexander, joined the fun in the Spring of 2016. Amma lived to love Caroline and Alexander; she would always take any opportunity to read, color, bake, and play with Caroline and Alexander, who were blessed to live two short blocks away. One of her weekly highlights was attending school chapel at St. Mary’s Episcopal where her memorial service will be held on Friday March 19th, 2021 at 10 am with a celebration to follow outside at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club. A private burial will occur on Saturday March 20th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to i) St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 4311 W. San Miguel Street, Tampa, Florida 33629; ii) St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School, 2101 S. Hubert Avenue, or iii) to LifePath Hospice.
Carol is survived by her husband, Kenneth; their son Kristopher and daughter in law Melissa and their two children Caroline and Alexander; her brother Rick and his wife Laurie and their children Brad, Danielle and Cortney; and her brother Bob and his daughter Kimberly.
