Ms. Dayle,

You are missed.  You were so kind and caring. May you RIP.  I think of you often.  I pray Mr. Jack is doing well and your family whom you loved and cherish so deeply.

Thanks for all the fun golf, great conversation on the 19th hole, support of the younger generation, and the ability to be the best friend a gal could hope for.

I am so privileged to have had you in my life. Your dry wit, New England humor, and proper ways will always be remembered with a big smile. 

I will always point to you as the best role model for  the next generation. Smart, strong, hard working , generous,  and with a gentle heart.

The staff of the American Cancer Fund® at www.AmericanCancerFund.org is sorry to hear of Dayle’s passing. We have received memorial donations in her name and our sincere condolences go out to her family.        

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear about Dayle’s passing. In my 27 years at PHD I had the pleasure of working with Dayle on several different projects. Dayle was a born leader. Every word spoken, every look given, was done with a confidence that exuded intelligence and experience. 

I was very fortunate to be invited by Dayle to travel with her to Corona for a lean event several years ago. I knew she was smart, but to see her put all of that knowledge into action and lead a team, that included high-level executive staff members, was truly inspiring. Our headquarters was looking to Dayle for answers at that event, and she succeeded in getting them the information that they needed; as she always did.

I returned from that trip and vowed to myself to be more like Dayle. To never be complacent about current processes, to ask the tough questions, be prepared with a solution, and be knowledgeable. Dayle expected no more of you than she did of herself, and it was simple…know your job, and do it well. I honestly can’t think of any better advice than that. I remind myself often of her unknowing mentorship, and am thankful every day for the impact she’s had not only on my career, but also on my life personally. She will be greatly missed.

My heartfelt condolences to the Cummings Family. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dayle's passing. I had the pleasure to have known and worked with Dayle for many years. She was always professional, supportive, and open minded and I feel honored to have worked with her.  She worked hard and pursued goals with enthusiasm.  NSWC-PHD benefited greatly from her service and she will be missed by all who knew her. Dayle's love of her family was evident and her face lit up at the mention of them, especially her grandchildren! My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Dayle Cummings.  I would often see her working late in the evenings and think to myself, she is so dedicated and someone to emulate.  She probably didn’t even know she was doing it, but she was a role model to me and I’m sure to many others as well.  I truly admired her professionalism and her work ethic.  She expected a lot from those who worked for her however, she was always kind and understanding, even as she pushed people to do their best.  She will live on in my memories as one of the great women who influenced me.  It was an honor to know her and work with her over the years here at NSWC.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

It was a great experience working side by side with Dayle Cummings back in the 80’s as Accounting Technicians in the Comptroller Department here at NSWC PHD aka NSWSES.  Dayle came full of knowledge and ready to learn everything she could from our old Comptroller at the time, Mr. Leon Manton, RIP, our fellow Accountants and Budget Analysts.  We all learned a lot from Dayle.  She pursued her career by working hard throughout our organization.  Dayle lived by her own example as a hard worker, a mentor, a strong leader, and definitely a professional.  Now it's time for you to play your game of golf in the heavens above.  

Dayle, you will be greatly missed by all and Thank You!  My thoughts and prayers go out for you and your family!

   I am so very sorry to hear of your loss.  I had the good fortune to be the first to bring Dayle to the Comptroller Department in 1985.  We worked together throughout the years until my retirement in 2010.  Even after my retirement I would always make it a point to go see her at the base when I was in California.  Dayle was the smartest woman I have ever met and she was always so caring and supportive during some of my unfortunate life events.  I will miss her so very much but feel very blessed to have known her all these years.  My sincere sympathy to each of you and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I had the pleasure of working with Gayle from NSWC Corona of and on throughout my career.  As a young women budget analyst starting out Gayle was a strong role model for me as I watched her maneuver her way through meetings.  Never afraid to speak her mind, but always prepared with the data.  As I grew in my career I always tried to be a little bolder, like Gayle.  I will forever be grateful for showing to those around her that your could be strong, yet caring at the same time.  I am not sure I ever thanked her in person for her role modeling and the impact it has had on me.  I am sorry I missed out on that opportunity.

I was both shocked and very sad to hear of Dayle's passing. I was quite fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Dayle here at NSWC PHD
Dayle was the consummate professional and very much impressed me with her intelligence and senior management competency. Dayle had a good practical sense which made it easy to communicate with her from both a technical and management standpoint. Dayle always kept it "real" and honest when giving her perspective on things. She was also very approachable from any level of the organization and it was obvious to me that she never forgot what its like to be at the working level of the organization.  I also enjoyed her sense of humor and positive attitude in spite of emergent requirements or stressful situations.
In my 35 years of service here at NSWC PHD, Dayle will be someone that I highly respect and always remember.

Dayle, is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack; son, Mark (Marysol); 3 grandchildren, Mark, Isabel and Jack; sister, Penny Levin; brother, Gary Levin (Mary Anne); nieces and nephews, Cherie, Gina (Rock), Jimmy, Nicole (Pram), Michael (Dana), Rick (Selina); and the rest of her family and friends all of whom filled her life with joy.
