Douglas L. Hossack

Hossack, Douglas L. 71 of West Union, S.C. formerly of Tampa and, Detroit went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2014. He was the beloved husband of almost 47 years, and is survived by his wife Charlene A. Hossack. He is also survived by his daughter Tracey Avary, son in law Scott Avary, granddaughters Ashley, Savannah, and Nikki Avary, sister Judith Martinez, brother in law Daniel R. Martinez, niece Dawn Sprinkle, nephew Daniel A. Martinez. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Hossack, parents Raymond L. Hossack and Dorothy Hossack. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Tampa, Fl in 1967 where he resided until 2009. He was employed at the Tampa Tribune for 16 years where he retired in 2005. He later moved to West Union, S.C. in 2009. He was an avid Tampa Bay Bucs fan and vice president of the Tampa Bay Bucs Club in the early years of existence. He was one of the originators of the Apollo Beach Leagurettes ,where he served as it's first president, and also coached for his daughters softball team. He coached his son's flag football also at the Apollo Beach Rec. Center. He had a great love and dedication to his family, and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Services will be held at Gonzalez Funeral Home 7209 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa. The family will receive friends on Mon. July 7th 5:00-8:00pm. Funeral Services Tue. July 8th at 11:00am.
