46, of Tampa passed away October 25, 2016 in Tampa, Florida. Allan was born at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland on March 19, 1970. Allan is survived by Christina Marie Terry Eikman and their son, Edward Andrew Eikman. Other survivors include parents Edward Allan Eikman Sr. and Ellen Adair Dillon Eikman, brother Adam Dillon Eikman, sisters Ingrid Ellen Eikman Gipson and Ursula Helen Eikman Baum, and his extended family. He attended elementary schools in Tampa, Nashville, and Kingston-upon Thames, UK and was a graduate of the Tampa Preparatory School and the University of South Florida. Allan was a passionate and accomplished man who freely shared his ambitions for family, athletics, boating and business. As a very small child, Allan told his father of his plans to grow-up and be a father himself. He and Christy realized this with the birth of their son Andrew of whom they are immensely proud. Allan was a dedicated father and concerned with every detail of parenthood. Allan’s joy in life came from being a father to Andrew. Allan grew up on the shores of Tampa Bay. He became a skillful sailor and navigator who knew the details of Tampa Bay and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterways. Much of this boating experience he shared with faithful friends with whom he went to school and then shared adulthood in Tampa. Allan became an avid cyclist and cultivated superb physical fitness. The family often visited Switzerland and other European cities when professional assignments called. Allan strove to bring world-class quality to every experience from professional, culinary, athletic, and in sheer style of living. For two decades, Allan developed a continuing medical education business. With his brother, they pioneered digital and online technology and developed sophisticated software to share the teaching talents of skilled medical educators. Allan was especially passionate about extending life-saving through breast cancer screening. He offered thousands of primary care physicians and other professionals access to definitive evidence-based education at no cost. Allan with his brother and sisters comprised a joyful, loving team. Each was respectful of the other’s personality and talent, sharing with their feelings, and fiercely loyal as they navigated at home and abroad. We remember camping trips and other travels during childhood and greatly enjoyed family events as adults. Allan remained close to his father and mother bonded by their love and loyalty to family. Allan is remembered for a perceptive sense of humor, insightful opinions on life and current affairs, and his drive to be his best and give the best of himself to those he loved. Allan was raised with a family and church that taught love, grace, humility, forgiveness, and respect for those who strive to do good, whatever their talent, temperament, or convictions. Allan lives on with us, and those he influenced, when we are loyal to each other, work with integrity, and do our best to create and maintain the best in all our lives. We are comforted by love and prayers of our friends, and with the belief that he lives in a place that the Lord has prepared. A family service was conducted earlier; no additional memorial service is planned at this time. Family requests no flowers please. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Allan Eikman to the Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation, for breast cancer research and education: Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation PO Box 23827 Tampa, FL 33623-3827 or online at https://moffitt.org .
