Forrest (or Eddie as many knew him) was born and raised in High Point, NC with his two brothers Marshall and Gregg where he excelled in both academics and sports. He was president of his class, high school quarterback and played basketball where in his words recently, he could “shoot lights out”. He played football at Guilford College before moving to Atlanta to start a successful career in technology at IBM, Sybase and EMC. His career led him to Ponte Vedra Beach, FL where he worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida and spent as much time as possible at the beach with his beloved dog Bear.
Eddie loved all things sports, especially his Tarheels, Gators and Jags (as hard as that could be sometimes). He was an avid tennis player and golfer and was a proud member of TPC Sawgrass for many years. He passed his love of sports to his “twin” daughter Katy who he nicknamed Mug (short for Mugwump) when she was born. Some of his favorite memories were of teaching Mug to throw and catch a ball in the corner of the bathtub as a baby, playing every sport possible together in the driveway of their home in Atlanta and taking her to the baby pool at Swim Atlanta. He was a friend to everyone he met and a loving Dad to all of Mug’s friends, always telling them to “behave themselves” whenever they would walk out the door.
Eddie is preceded in death by his loving parents Forrest and Elizabeth, lifelong best friend Bobby Bradner and Katy’s mom Judy. He is survived by his daughters Mollie Edwards and Katy Edwards, brothers Marshall Edwards (Connie Browne) and Gregg Edwards (Ginger), nieces Reagan Edwards and Madison Edwards, nephew Tyler Edwards and closest friend of many years Duke Livermore.
A celebration of life will be held in Ponte Vedra Beach at Aqua Grill on January 18, 2025.
