

Frances Marie Curry Vaughn died peacefully at her daughter Beverly’s home in St. Petersburg, FL, on January 22, 2016. Frances was born in Lakeland, FL. on January 13, 1928 to Rubye Macy Sykes and Mark Well Curry. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Eli Vaughn, whom she married in Tampa in 1954. Also predeceasing her were brothers Mark Well Curry, Jr., and her brother Thomas Edmond Curry. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her four children; Beverly Vaughn Graves, MBA, Robert Vaughn, Jr., Esq, Glenn C. Vaughn M.D, (Mildred "Mimi" Farmer, M.D.) and Frances Louise Vaughn, Ph.D (Tom Drier, Ph.D). Mrs. Vaughn’s grandchildren are William Moulton Graves, III (Hedda), Reid Vaughn Graves, M.D. (Rochelle), Grace Renaud Vaughn (Heather), Madeleine Camille Vaughn, Miles Walter Vaughn, Wade Morrow Vaughn, Claire Curry Wilson Kelly, Esq., (Patrick) and Rachelle Helen Wilson Sciortino (Chris). She was also survived by six beautiful great-grandchildren. Frances was raised in Seminole Heights and graduated from Hillsborough High School. She attended the University of Tampa. After a rewarding career as the legal secretary of the prominent T.M Shackleford, Esq., she married her childhood sweetheart and they raised their four children in Brandon, Florida. A well versed woman with a razor sharp wit and intellect, Frances was active in supporting her husband's business affairs, including the construction of statewide public utilities, auto dealerships and banking, and the nurture of their four children through their formative years and schooling. Frances was involved in various social an philanthropic interests such as the Morning Star School, The Children's Cancer Center, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay and the University of Tampa. Frances was an active member in the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club of Tampa. She was also a long time member of The Highlands County Club and The Wild Cat Cliffs County Club, both of Highlands, NC, where she and her husband maintained a home for over 55 years. Their love of travel took them all around the world.
