Gerardo Torres

Gerardo was born on January 28th, 1943 to Gerardo and Carlota Torres in Colombia. In 1966 Gerardo immigrated to the United States and settled in New York City where he would eventually become a citizen of this country.

In 1974 he met his spouse Libertad Ruiz in the Bronx, NY. Gerardo and Libertad went on to have two children, Jerry Omar Torres and Vanessa Jasmin Torres and Oscar Gerardo Torres from a previous relationship.

Gerardo retired in 1989 and moved his family from New York to Tampa Florida where he spent the rest of his days living in the sunshine state. Gerardo loved his children, the beach, church and was very active in St. Joseph's Catholic church for about 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Libertad Torres, his three children Oscar, Jerry and Vanessa and his grandson Jeremiah Torres. Gerardo is also survived by his siblings, Lucia Alvarez, Edgardo Torres, Jairo Torres, Jesus Torres and Teresa Torres and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Gerardo will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33614, followed by a prayer service from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
