Gilbert "Randy" Jones was born on September 6, 1990 in Tampa and passed away on April 9, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident while vacationing in Jamaica. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School (Class of 2009) and from the University of South Florida (Class of 2015) with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Randy grew up playing baseball at Northwest Little League and played Varsity baseball at Jefferson, where he earned his letter, and was recognized with the Coach's Award and Gold Glove Award his senior year.
He was a dutiful son, a wonderful brother, a loving grandson, a great cousin and friend to all. Above all, what Randy cherished more than anything was the love of his family and his phenomenal friends. His favorite phrase was Family Over Everything (FOE) and that's how he lived his life.
Randy is survived by his parents, Maria Cristina & Charles Jones; his brother Brian and sister Gabriela. He also leaves his grandparents: Gil & Carol Jones; and Jorge & Maria Rodriguez. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a community of friends.
The service will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Friday April 21, 2017 at 12:00pm. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 10:00am. St. Lawrence Catholic Church is located at 5225 N. Himes Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33614. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Paralympic Sport Tampa Bay or Kissing Cousins Charity, both of which Randy cherished and supported.
