

Gladis Leon was a native of San Antonio De Los Banos, Cuba and a 62 year resident of Tampa, Florida. She was born in December 1931 to Manuel Fransico Gonzalez and Epifania Juana Gonzalez. She spent 30 years of her life in Cuba where she went to school in Havana and received her degree in teaching. She married her sweetheart Rosendo Leon in June 1954. While in Cuba Gladis and Rosendo welcomed their two sons, Rosendo and Ricardo. In 1962 the family migrated to the United States where they raised their family and cherished a life of freedom. She worked in Tampa, FL for many years as a seamstress and at Jesuit Catholic High School. Gladis was a faithful Christian all her life, she was an example to us all by always keeping God front and center. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and was very active in her community by supporting countless foundations. She also enjoyed many years as a member of the Cuban Civic Club. Gladis was completely devoted to her family, her love language was cooking for others and taking care of everyone’s needs around her. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed many summers at the beach. She was the sweetest, had a kind heart and was incredibly selfless. She will be deeply missed and we feel the weight of her loss so much already. Her life was truly a life well lived! She leaves behind a family that is humbled by her love and endless grace.
Gladis is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rosendo Leon and her seven siblings. She is survived by her two sons, Rosendo Leon, Ricardo Leon and their respective families.
