Loving mother, grandmother, wife to former husband Sam, sister, and aunt. She leaves behind her children, Allan and Donna Gordon of Tampa, Florida; Carolyn and Peter Cihelka of Woodbridge, Virginia; and Stuart and Ann Feldman of Swampscott, Massachusetts, and grandchildren Holden, Shane, Abigail, Elana, and Guinevere.
A gifted musician, she played accordion and piano professionally as a child. Gladys was also blessed with great language talents, and taught Spanish and German to generations of students at Mepham High School in Merrick, New York. Indeed, for years after she retired, she heard from former students about her influence on their lives.
She was a proud veteran and former U.S. Air Force officer who deciphered transmissions in Czech during the Korean War.
She loved animals, especially dogs. With her many accomplishments, it was always her family and pets that brought her the greatest joy. She will be dearly missed.
