Gladys George Torres

Torres, Gladys George, 85, of Tampa, Florida, passed away December 13, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 15, 1929 in Cleveland, Ohio to Julius and Mary Fedor George. She moved to Florida with her parents in 1946.She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, A. Fernando Torres, and her dear sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Frank Stefanek.She is survived by her daughter Alice (Stephen) Sutton, her grandsons William, John, and Christopher Sutton; and nieces and nephew, Mary Ellen (Gary) Silver, Suzanne (Edward) Wrobel, Deborah (late Alan) Gitlin, Christopher (Maggie) Stefanek, Gladys (David Santoli) Stefanek, and Megan (Colin) Barr, as well as numerous cousins. She is also survived by her friend and caretaker, Shirley Cintron.She was a teacher in the Pinellas County School District for over 30 years and also owned and managed the Bamboo Apartments on Holmes Beach, Florida. Her greatest joy in life was her dear family, especially her grandsons, William, John, and Christopher. Her bright spirit and positive attitude will be missed by all. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, December 15th from 5-7pm with a Rosary service at 7pm, at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 South Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33629. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Gladys G. Torres to Jesuit High School, 4701 N. Himes Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33614 would be greatly appreciated.
