

84, of Tampa, FL, passed on Wednesday, Dec 22nd. She was born in Winter Haven and raised in Thomasville, Georgia where at age sixteen she met her seventeen-year-old life-mate, Michael N. Kavouklis. Irene was a small-town girl who loved caring and cooking for her husband, children, and grandchildren and will be remembered most for her warmth, kindness, and loving heart with plenty of smiles, hugs, and kisses.
Irene attended faithfully as a member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church and served in the Philoptochos and in the AHEPA family. She was active with the Easter Seals, Tampa Women’s Club, Red Cross Angels, Jesuit Tiger Lilies, and Hillsborough Bar Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Judge Michael N. Kavouklis; son, Dr. Nicholas M. and wife Edith Kavouklis; son Chris M. and Debbie Kavouklis and grandchildren; Mark Alan, Michael, Christopher, Andrew, Irene, John, Chase, Maggie, Alexander, Katherine, Elizabeth and James, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter Anastasia and grandson Nicholas.
The family will host a visitation on Sunday, December 27th from 5-7pm with a Trisagion Service at 6pm at Blount & Curry, 605 S. MacDill Ave. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm on Monday, December 28th at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, interment to follow at Cycadia Cemetery in Tarpon Springs.
