

James Kirby Blocker, Jr. 83, of Tampa, Florida, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday August 7, 2024. James was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 7, 1940; and married Sara Wrenn on October 5, 1962, in Savannah, Georgia.
Jim retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years as a Senior Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the Tampa Tribune for 10 years before buying the Lamp Repair and Shade Studio business on Bay to Bay Boulevard in south Tampa, from which he retired after 27 years.
Jim Blocker attended St. Leo’s University where he graduated Magma Cum Laude in Political Science.
He is survived by his wife Sara Blocker; Daughter, Linda Renee Reid; Son, James Kirby Blocker III, his two sisters, Marion Ivah Schmidt and Nancy Kathryn Blocker; granddaughters, Molly Kay Friesen, Abby Thompson, and Morgan Paige Harrison; grandson, Jack Richard Reid; and great grandchildren, Brayden Thompson, Cooper Thompson and Kirbie Nichole Blocker.
James will be missed by all who knew him, for he was greatly loved.
