John Richard Oxley

John was born in Defiance, Ohio on April 15, 1948. He graduated from Defiance High School, then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. John started Oxley Construction Consultants in St. Petersburg, FL in 1983, which later became Oxley, Brannon & Zorrilla Consultants, Inc. and is still in business.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Oxley; parents Richard and Ruth; and stepmother Cary.

He is survived by his daughters and step-daughters: Nora Oxley Zelov (Kenny) of Phoenix, AZ; Erin Oxley Harris (Dave) of Omro, WI; Michelle Lee of Sarasota, FL; Denise Griffin of St. Petersburg, FL; Michelle Griffin; and Amanda McKay (Wayne) of Hernando, FL. John is also survived by his sister, Janet Hansen; grandsons Ethan & Gavin Zelov and Tristan & Andrew Lee; and cousins Barbara Cole and Nancy Williamson.

John had many good friends in St. Petersburg, Mount Dora, and Colorado, as well. He will be missed, but family and friends alike are grateful that he is at peace.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for John will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 11AM to 1PM with services beginning at 1PM at Blount and Curry Funeral Home, Oldsmar West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 SIlvermill Drive, Tampa FL 33635.
