Giuseppina (Josephine) Costa was born to Teresa D’Amico Costa and Salvatore Costa on September 7, 1920 in the bustling tri-lingual community of Ybor City. A graduate of Hillsborough High School and Gordon-Keller School of Nursing , Josephing served her country with distinction as a Registered Nurse and Officer in the US Army. Josephine was stationed in India during WWII where she cared for wounded US soldiers and allies. On May 30,1954 Josephine wed Collier Reilly Wyche. Josephine raised two sons while continuing her career as a nurse. She then took her many years of experience to start young people on the road to becoming health care professionals including developing the Health Occupations program at Tampa Bay Tech. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, sister Eilda Baio and brother-in-law Don Baio and her fourteen aunts and uncles from Tampa and the Agrigento province of Sicily. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Collier Wyche, her sons Frank and Bobby, her bother John S. Costa (Gloria) and brother-in-law Howard Bunch as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. A visitation will be held from 3-5pm on Saturday, Feb. 21st with a service to follow at 5pm at Blount & Curry MacDill. Burial will follow at Florida National on Monday Feb. 23 at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to University of South Florida College of Nursing - Gordon-Keller Alumni Fund.
