(January 5, 1943- April 24, 2024)
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Leslie Ann Moran (nee Tanenberg). Leslie was one of a kind and a true trail blazer. Possessed with a keen intellect and a wicked sense of humor, there wasn’t a problem she could not solve especially for those she loved.
Raised on the North side of Chicago she moved to NYC in her 20s to attend Columbia University where she made life long friends and met her husband. Following graduation, Leslie attended Columbia’s Graduate School of Business where she was shattering glass ceilings as one of two women in the class. Leslie led CLT Research, working with clients such as American Express and M&M Mars…delighting her children with samples of yet to be named candy bars and cookies. She oversaw CLT’s incredible growth and successful sale before her retirement.
She showed up with intensity for the people she loved with a genuine generosity of time, spirit and understanding. Leslie showed up for all she loved; there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family and her friends. She touched so many lives providing those around her with guidance and encouragement. Leslie was an adored mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was a passionate supporter of the arts, serving for years on the board of Exit Art, a believer in democracy and a fighter for justice. A dyed in the wool Democrat to the end, perhaps her only regret would have been passing before she could vote in the upcoming election.
Leslie is survived by her husband William Moran, and her daughters Lisa Moran, Amy Moran Moberg and their spouses as well as 3 beautiful grandchildren; her brother Marc Tanenberg and his wife and her sister Marsha Karant and their children, her beloved nieces and nephew.
The family will be hosting a memorial later in the year. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to NEDA or NYC Outward Bound Schools.
