Linda Mary Stacy was born on April 21, 1939, in Wrotham, Kent, England, to Richard Davis Stacy and Dorothy Salter Glyde Stacy. She grew up during World War II, on a dairy farm with her younger brother, Robert Stacy. Although their early years in England included V1 missiles, barrage balloons, and spending nights in air-raid shelters in the dining room or outside in the garden, they often remembered their shared early childhood as an idyllic and rural one. Together, the family emigrated to the United States in 1949, where they lived in Auburn, Alabama.
Linda attended Auburn University, and eventually moved to New York City. On July 19, 1968, she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah, and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She married her husband of 38 years, Joseph Ignacio Camel, on January 18, 1969. The family moved to Tampa, Florida, in 1971, where Linda continued her faithful service to Jehovah until she fell asleep in death. She was not only actively involved in Bible education work, preaching and teaching the good news of God’s Kingdom, but she also practiced kindness towards animals and people, alike. You could count on her to be there to help a wounded or stray animal, to give someone a ride to the doctor’s office or the store, or to provide other practical assistance to strangers, friends and family. She was very devoted to her family and friends, and enjoyed the many, many, family trips to Busch Gardens, Walt Disney World, and the beach throughout the years.
She is survived by her four children, Lynn Foreman, Ronald Wright, Francis Camel, and Priscilla Stoops, all of Tampa, FL; her brother, Robert Stacy of New York, NY; her six grandchildren, Benjamin Diaz, Sonia Foreman, Richard Wright, Michael Wright, Illyana Evy Camel and Ian DeCola, and one great-grandson, Jeremiah Diaz, all of Tampa, FL; and many other beloved Camel family members in North Carolina, Miami, and Fort Lauderdale.
Due to 2020 public health safety concerns, a private memorial service will be held virtually on August 22, 2020, at 3 p.m. If you have not received an invitation, please do not hesitate to contact a family member or close friend for further information.
