My grandma Linda was a kind and giving soul. She had a way of connecting with people. Everyone at restaurants knew her because she took the time to truly know them. It’s a quality I’ve come to admire and appreciate as a server. 
She had a love for Italy and would often sprinkle Italian words into conversation. I can still hear her saying “mangiare!” before every meal. 
I was lucky to have a grandma who supported my hobbies. I still cherish the photos of her bringing oranges to my soccer games. 
And lastly, she loved and cared for my grandfather deeply, and it gives me peace knowing they’re together again.

I wish we had stayed more in touch, and I wish I had the chance to say goodbye.

Rest in peace dear Linda, a beautiful woman of God.

I met Linda providentially in 2015 at a St. Lawrence Magnificat breakfast. Her faith and prayerfulness inspired me greatly and we became friends. Linda never met a stranger, everyone was a brother or sister in Christ.  Rest in eternal paradise my beautiful friend with God and Jim, you made this world a better place.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Linda's passing. Linda and I became friends later in our lives after I joined the staff at Saint Leo University and she was involved in the activities of the Center for Catholic Jewish Studies at Saint Leo. Linda was always inquisitive and interested in learning more about the interrelations of our respective faiths and we had many enjoyable discussions about interfaith issues when we were together. I had not seen her in several years after I joined the full-time faculty at Saint Leo. She was a very gracious lady and will be missed. Sincere condolences to her family.

I worked with Linda Leilani Schappals  later Taggart when we both were teenagers.  We worked together at the Tampa Public Library downtown Tampa  and each attended USF. She was unusually intelligent and had an active and inquisitive mind. I had an understandable boyish crush on her. She inspired me at a deep level.  It was Linda who inspired me to become a Philosophy major. It was perfect preparation for law school . I haven’t seen Linda since I returned from overseas in 1972. We got together then  to catch up on our respective life events. We were both still quite young. I’m sorry that my moving to Texas for law school kept us apart.  I’ve always thought of her and value  my precious memories of her. I am sure her religious convictions comforted her during her health struggles. God Bless you Linda.

I feel so blessed to have known Linda. She was such a sweet and generous woman besides all her knowledge. She taught me a lot, she had a way with words. I know she is in heaven with God our Father and with Jim her husband. She is at peace, she is home where we all want to be. I will miss her. She made an impression on me. God bless you Linda. When heard the news I was in shock,  I meet this wonderful person while working as a Security Officer on her community,  she called me her protector, Hector the Protector. I will remember you always I'll miss our short chats and I know you are in a better place now, We'll see each other's again soon, now enjoy your love ones in haven.

Linda Taggart was a friend, a brilliant mind, a devout Roman Catholic, a loving and devoted wife.  A woman who shared her knowledge with those in both the Catholic and Jewish communities as a teacher at Saint Leo University,  with students and  candidates for the Catholic Deaconate, with members of her Christ the King Circle and Bible Study class and so many others.  She was a gentle, elegant, humble, person, a friend of scholars, Priests, Bishops and her friends in many circles.  She learned from books and studies at prestigious religious institutions, often the only laywoman in attendance among the clergy.  She bravely lived with her health challenges, engaging and encouraging and embracing the nurses, doctors, home health providers, waitresses and anyone else who crossed her path.  She never complained and made everyone feel welcome and she was always so grateful.  I was blessed to know and be inspired by her.  I will miss her...

Linda & Jim were my friends for 30+ years, I have missed Jim since 2011 and will miss Linda so very much.  Linda is now with Jim.
