I miss You, Mom and Luis each and every day that passes. The memories you gave me and that you taught me through my life has made me a man and a Gentleman.  I live each day of my life remembering the values you instilled in me.  I love you from the day You gave me life and will for eternity be grateful to have had a father as wonderful and loving as you.

Since the moment I met you and your family, thanks to  another great man like Carlos was, you had a big impact in my life, helped me see what I want to do in my career, you motivated me to become a paratrooper, and I know you were proud of me when you heard the news, now I'm going to take what you show me and excel in my military career, hoping I can do as good as you did, I will see you in the skies, you'll never be left behind, Airborne!

It breaks our heart that we cannot be there with you today, but Scott and I wanted to express how deeply saddened we are by the loss of papa Lou.  Scott and I feel so fortunate to have been blessed in our life with two sets of parents.  Your mom and dad were such a big part of our life.  They were always there – you know like parent and grandparents.

When we think of your dad we think of beautiful gardens, exquisite wine, wonderful sausage and cheese delights.  We think of a house filled with WWII books and fortune magazine.  We think of barbeque parties and a backyard filled with neighbors huddled under BLUE NUN and SIMI umbrellas.  We think of wonderful long dinner conversations, quirky laughter and an education on wine with every meal.

Your dad was a very passionate man.  He had a few simple loves in his life – his family, his friends, his yard, his wine and his books.

We remember colorful gardens, manicured lawns, and a passion to be outside making his world look just a little bit more beautiful.

We remember a man so in love with his wife after 58 years of marriage that you wonder how this adoration could still be so fresh and beautiful as the first day they met.

We remember a father always wanting the best for his kids.    

We remember a best friend to my dad – a friendship that was so dear to both of them and yet so simple and uncomplicated. 
 
We remember the admiration he had for this country and how he would get so upset when things happened which made no sense whatsoever. 
 
We remember all the open, robust (to say the least), conversations that you could walk into at any point in time.  It always amazed me how respectfully real life was in the Diaz house.  

We remember a man that was always reading and educating himself.  He was so well read and more educated than anyone we knew – because he made it a priority to read anything and everything he could get his hands on.  He could talk for hours on current events, things he had read, and always asked questions when what he read did not really make sense.  

We remember the letters – he would occasionally write and send to us with articles he had read that he felt were relevant.

We remember how proud he was the day Scott opened the wine store – and the weekly calls to see how things were going and to share his knowledge with Scott.

We remember the talks he would have with Jacob, Dillon and Taylor on historical events and the kick he would get out of talking with little Tiffany. 
 
We remember the random trips they would make to our house – just because they wanted to get out of the house and thought a trip to Orlando was a great way to spend their time.  

We remember that they would always bring food – We don't think that they thought we could cook – but were always willing to teach us how.  
We can't think of Luis without Helen or Helen and Luis without Tati and Carlos.  The friendship was one in a lifetime and we feel so fortunate to have had them all in our lives, shaping who we are and loving our family as their own. 
 
You father was a wonderful man and your mom a beautiful woman – both very passionate about life, love, family, and their values and beliefs.  They had a beautiful life together and we can only hope to take our memories and apply all they taught us to our life and our family.

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your father.I will always remember that smile of your dads whenever he saw me. Your parents were special people and are now together again. They will never be forgotten. Our prayers are with you all.

Another bright light has gone out on Carmen Street. Luis was not only a classy gentleman's gentleman but he was friend and parent to a whole bunch of neighborhood kids on Carmen Street. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mike and Erick Diaz and their families.

We are so sad at the loss of our beloved Luis.  He was a world class gentleman. We will miss his colorful stories and beautiful smile. We will always cherish all of the love and support he and Helen, gave to our family.

My very dear friend and inspiration. Beverly and I fondly remember the many great years we had together in Tampa with you and your lovely Helen.You touched so many and were a stalwart in the wine business. I used your example of excellence many times over the years to teach new suppliers the proper way to work with wholesalers. you were the best in many ways. A great friend, mentor, husband and father. I lift a glass of "Dom Perignon" to you!

What a beautiful man this world has lost. May God Bless his sons in this time of sorrow. Know that your father was loved and, greatly, respected by so many people. He touched so many lives and will not be forgotten.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

This is a very sad time for all of us who knew & loved this gracious & classy gentleman.
We all learned so much from both him & Helen about life and how to enjoy it to its fullest.
So many great memories of laughter and joy.
