Martha Lynne Smith

Martha Lynne Smith, 76, of Odessa, died February 1, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born June 12, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, she is survived by her husband, Alen; her son, Reed, and his wife, Maura; her grand-daughter, Mary-Streeter; her son, Ian; her brother, Michael Albl, and his wife, Cynthia, and her nieces and nephews. Lynne was preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Valaria Albl, and her brother David. Lynne grew up in Ohio and Pennsylvania and graduated from Pennsylvania State University. After graduation, Lynne moved to New York City where she met her husband with whom she recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Upon moving to Tampa 46 years ago, Lynne became involved in many local civic activities including The Chiselers, The Tampa Rose Garden Circle, Metropolitan Ministries, and The Easterseals of Florida. Lynne supported numerous school activities at St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School and Berkeley Preparatory School. Lynne was a past member of the Vestry at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and most recently attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Lynne will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Funeral services will be held at 10am, Thursday, February 8th, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Easterseals Florida.
