Myrna Robinson passed from this world on Friday, December 29th, a week before her eighty-sixth birthday, after a lifetime of service to others. A native of Port Tampa City and graduate of H.B. Plant High School and the University of Tampa, Myrna spent over forty years as a Hillsborough County educator, first as a beloved elementary teacher, then principal, and finally Area 1 Director. From supporting efforts to retrofit Roosevelt Elementary with its first air conditioning system in the 1970s to spearheading the first robotics team at Dale Mabry Elementary, Myrna impacted thousands of students and educators in both practical and visionary ways. Following her retirement, Myrna devoted her time and attention to volunteering at the Judeo Christian Health Clinic in Tampa. Her tireless energy not only resulted in thousands more lives touched by her patient efforts but also in her being honored as a Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero in March of 2019.
In her private life, Myrna was devoted to her family and is survived by her sister Audrey Pearson, brother Thomas Robinson, sister-in-law Cookie Robinson, her niece, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Known to many as simply Aunt Myrna, she is remembered for her generosity, her determined spirit, and her passion for others to live their best lives. Although her loss leaves a dark space that she once filled so brightly, her spirit will endure in the lives of those who loved her dearly.
Her family invites those who would like to share in a celebration of Myrna’s life to join them on Saturday, February 10th from 1 – 3 PM at the Blount Curry Life Event Center at 605 S. Mac Dill Avenue.
To honor Myrna, donations may be made to the Judeo Christian Health Clinic via their website at https://www.judeochristianhealthclinic.org/giving.html or by mailing a check to 4118 N.
