

Nancy spent formative years in Daytona Beach, FL and Birmingham, AL as her father moved up the corp. ladder. Outgoing and fun loving, Nancy was both a Shades Valley High cheerleader and on the drum line! She attended the Univ of Alabama, joined Kappa Kappa Gamma, and majored in Textiles and Home Economics.
She took a hiatus to marry and raise a family in Tampa, FL. Nancy was a member of the Junior League of Tampa, a Pink Lady at Tampa General Hospital, and a Brownie Troop Leader. Nancy later returned to her academic pursuits at the University of South Florida, graduating with honors and becoming a CPA.
Starting her professional career as a legal secretary for Mich Emanuel with Carlton Fields, Nancy then mastered the Stenotype and became a Court Reporter, practicing in circuit and criminal courts for Hillsborough, Pinellas, & Duval Counties, as well as reporting for the Hon. Ben Krentzman, US Middle District of Florida in the 1970s. Nancy loved auditing. After earning her CPA she was led to continue working on the side of the law as an agent for the Florida ATF.
Everyone who knew Nancy savored her infectious, robust laugh and her zest for living. A creative and talented decorative ornamentalist her artwork added beauty to homes and offices. she claimed she was not an extraordinary cook, But she sure could bake! How her family cherished waking to a delectable breakfast-in-bed scratch birthday cake.
Nancy had a deep and abiding faith that informed everything she did in life.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Larry Honeycutt, her former husband and friend, Jack Lowry, her son, Wm. Loper ‘Doc’ Lowry, her brother John Henry ‘Jack’ Eaton, her precious grandson Conner Eaton Lowry, and both her sons in law, David A. Straz Jr. and Randy Thomas.
Nancy is survived by daughters Nancy Lowry Thomas and Catherine Lowry Straz, her friend and daughter in law Elizabeth Lowry Taylor (neé Geitz) and her beloved, awesome 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
A funeral in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 509 E Twiggs St., downtown Tampa. Kentucky Derby attire is welcome in honor of Nancy's vibrant spirit and love for life.
