Patricia Lee Geasa, RN, 92, died on May 11, 2025. A loving wife, mother, dedicated nurse, caregiver, and homemaker, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Edwin, and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Geasa. She is survived by her son, William Geasa (Mulberry, FL); her daughter, Sandra Streator, and her husband, William (Tampa, FL); grandchildren, “BJ” Geasa and wife, Chelsie (Lakeland, FL); Becky Schmalz and husband, Ryan (Franklin, TN); Michael Streator (Tampa, FL); Jessi Streator and husband, Ryan (St. Augustine, FL); and six great-grandchildren: Molly, Jane, Van, Hank, Brynn, and Walker.
Pat grew up in Greensburg, PA and completed her nursing training at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. She began her nursing career as a labor and delivery room nurse in 1954. She served as a partner in a highly supportive role during her husband’s Air Force career, raising two children while establishing and maintaining homes in Moultrie, GA; Lubbock, TX; Greenville, SC; Châteauroux, France; Washington, DC; Tampa, FL; and Mildenhall, England. While living in France, Pat became a Red Cross RN, teaching Mother and Baby Care courses and providing training to young military wives overseas. She then spent nearly two years alone with her children in Tampa while Ed was serving in Taiwan and Vietnam.
While living in Washington, DC, Pat renewed her nursing career by working with geriatric patients in a nursing home setting. She continued in this field upon Ed’s retirement in 1975. Pat expanded her skills of caregiving by taking care of her mother for eight years as she battled Alzheimer’s disease. Pat also helped to establish a local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, now known as the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. From 1991 to 2008, Pat worked at the University of South Florida Suncoast Alzheimer’s and Gerontology Center as a resource specialist, assisting families of patients affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
Hundreds of caregivers have been strengthened by her caring guidance and understanding. Pat was an inspiration to those who knew and loved her, who valued her intelligence, tirelessness, and kindness. Through a lifetime of selfless efforts, her influence will live on in the many lives she touched. As an advocate for the less fortunate and the underdog, her compassionate spirit, unconditional love, and caring nature will be sorely missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Keystone United Methodist Church, 16301 Race Track Road, Odessa, FL. Please wear purple in Pat’s honor. Burial will be held at Florida National Cemetery for family only. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Patricia Geasa’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
