It was his love for salsa music that led him to the love of his life, Petra Couvertier. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in devotion, loyalty, laughter, and true partnership that lasted over 65 years. Their journey eventually brought them to Gary, Indiana, where they created a home filled with love, family, and lasting memories. From that union came two beloved daughters, Maria De Los Angeles Gonzalez O’Sullivan and Lilliam Georgian Gonzalez.
Ramon’s legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren Anne-Marie, Jonathan, Matthew, Daniel, and Bernabe, along with many adored great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by his love, humor, and guidance.
He was loved deeply by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ramon was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, trusted mentor, and father figure to many. He offered wisdom without judgment, kindness without condition, and support without hesitation.
He possessed a rare gift, the ability to make people laugh and smile effortlessly. Whether through humor, storytelling, or simply his presence, Ramon brought light wherever he went. That joy remains one of the greatest treasures he leaves behind.
Ramon lived with a generous spirit and a servant’s heart. He was always ready to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or help someone in need. His compassion and integrity earned him the admiration and respect of everyone around him.
He treasured life’s simple and meaningful pleasures gathering with family, playing dominoes and Spanish cards, sharing meals, and celebrating with loved ones. Whenever music played, especially salsa, the home came alive, filled with rhythm, laughter, and Ramon’s unmistakable spirit.
A master storyteller, Ramon could captivate any room. His tales were colorful, heartfelt, and unforgettable. Through his words, the history, pride, and beauty of Puerto Rico came alive for generations. He was a true reflection of Isla del Encanto, carrying its soul in his heart wherever he went.
Though our hearts mourn his passing, this is not goodbye. Ramon’s love remains in every family gathering, every burst of laughter, every domino game, every song that fills the room, and every story passed on to the next generation.
Beloved Ramon, rest now until we meet again. Keep dancing, keep smiling, and keep the salsa playing.
In accordance with his wishes, Ramon was cremated, and his ashes will be lovingly returned to his beloved Puerto Rico.
