Raymond Nelson Garrett III, age 66, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022. Ray was born on December 5, 1955, in Richmond, Virginia. He was a graduate of Hancock North Central H.S. in Mississippi. Dividing most of his adult life between Tampa and Mechanicsville, Ray worked in a variety of industries. Ultimately, he fulfilled his passion for racing working at Townsend Racing Products. Among his many interests were Civil War history, the LA Dodgers, and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his sister Nancy G. Stephens, brother David L. Garrett, niece Rachel S. Lawyer, great nieces Charlotte M. Lawyer and Rebecca L. Lawyer, and uncle H. Lewis Garrett. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert T. Garrett, and by his parents Raymond N. Garrett, Jr. and Constance R. Garrett whom he cared for in their later years.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 pm on March 27, 2022, at First Reformed Church in Tampa. A celebration of life will be held at Mechanicville Methodist Church in Virginia on April 9, 2022, at 1 pm.
