

R. Douglas Vance, Jr. passed away on Monday, November 14th at the age of 84. Predeceased by his parents Geraldine Vance and Raymond D. Vance, Sr., his brothers Thomas Vance and Lynn Vance, he is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Cecelia Vance, his daughters, Tara Vance and Lyra Vance, his sisters Vicki Vance Brown and Marsha Milligan (Bob), his nephew Todd Vance (Melissa) and many other nieces and nephews. Doug’s greatest joy in life was his family and their greatest joy was him. Doug was President for Life of the Gaucho Association of Tampa and was a member since 1952. He served in the Air Force for eight years during the Korean War and is remembered for his passion for acting in stage, film, print and television and, his professional career in insurance, and as a lifelong athlete.
A viewing will be held at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 on November 19th at St. Lawrence Catholic Church at 5225 N Himes Ave, Tampa. An interment at Garden of Memories Mausoleum will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute at 4001 E.
