Reinaldo “Coach” Escobar, 92, of Tampa, passed away February 8, 2018.He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Following his service he graduated from the University of Tampa and later received a Master’s degree in Education at the University of Kentucky. He followed his passion in sports, coaching football, basketball and track for the Madison Mustangs. He was noted as the winningest coach in Junior High.
He is preceded in death by his wife of more than 60 years, Matilda “Tillie” Escobar; parents, Rafael and Lilia Escobar; sister, Aida Fonte.
Coach is survived by his children, Pam Cannella, Susan (John Berrios) Kuhn, Ray Michael (Lorrie) Escobar; siblings, Richard Escobar and Yvonne Rotolo; grandchildren, Jennifer Kuhn, Gina (Charles) O’Keefe, Deana (Ronny) Cannella, Jessica (Charlie) Upchurch; great-grandchildren, Arissa Cannella, Chelsea Upchurch, Michael O’Keefe, Matthew O’Keefe, Chase Upchurch and Wes O'Keefe; many nieces, nephews and loving family and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11th from 11am to 1pm at Blount Curry Macdill, 605 S. Macdill Ave, Tampa FL 33609 and interment will follow at Garden of Memories, Tampa.
